Euan Craik

Euan Craik, Chief Executive Officer, Americas

Euan Craik is chief executive of Argus Media Inc. in Houston and served on the board of directors of Argus Media Limited from 2005 until 2016. 

Since 2006, Euan has led the Argus management team in the Americas, expanding the reach of offices and breadth of services.

 He joined Argus in 1996, initially as a specialist on the Russian oil and gas industries. From 2000, Euan served as Argus’ Executive Editor, based in London, where he developed Argus’ LNG coverage and other areas of the global gas and power portfolio.

In the early nineties, Euan worked in business journalism in Moscow, initially at the first post-Soviet business newspaper, Kommersant, then at the English-language Moscow Times. He was later awarded a fellowship at the Centre for Economic Performance of the London School of Economics.

Karen Johnson

Karen Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, Americas

Karen Johnson is Chief Operating Officer of Argus Media Inc. based in Houston.

Karen joined Argus in 1994 and has led the commercial efforts in the Americas since 2003, growing the sales and marketing teams. She has also led divisions including finance, customer support and global sales during her tenure at Argus.

Karen has a BA from the University of Houston’s Honors College and graduated cum laude with majors in English literature and marketing.

Scott Berg SVP Marketing Americas

Scott Berg, Senior Vice President, Marketing

Scott is a proven thought leader and marketing authority. He has positioned global organizations for advances in growth and revenue through the conceptualization, development and delivery of highly successful and innovative marketing strategies, campaigns and channel expansion.

Scott has led initiatives that have pushed companies such as IHS, Hewlett Packard and Compaq into the use of modern marketing technology and analysis. He has garnered numerous awards for his work, including “Internationalist Marketer of the Year” by The Internationalist Magazine, “Marketer of the Year” by BtoB Magazine and a Cannes Gold Media Lion at the Cannes International Advertising Festival. He is a frequent speaker at industry events and is a contributing author to the book “Kellogg on Advertising and Media”.

Scott earned a BA in Finance and Economics as well as an MBA, both from Wichita State University.
Stephen Jones

Stephen Jones, Senior Vice President, Petroleum, Business Development

Stephen joined Argus in October 2017 as Senior Vice President, leading the business development team for the petroleum sector. Stephen is responsible for Argus solutions that meet the needs of crude oil, refined products and NGLs market participants. Stephen has expertise in all aspects of the energy business, having served clients for over 30 years in the industry.

Prior to Argus, Stephen was with Purvin & Gertz and IHS Market for 17 years where he was Vice President of the Refining & Marketing team. He led a large international group that provided research and consulting services to clients in the upstream, crude oil markets, NGLs, chemicals, automotive, maritime and midstream businesses. While at IHS, Stephen led the Energy Product Management team to integrate the legacy PFC Energy, Purvin & Gertz, and CERA market services. Stephen began his career with Exxon at the Baton Rouge refinery where he held a variety of technical support, business planning, engineering supervision and operations management positions. He then moved to Exxon’s refining headquarters and Supply & Trading team in Houston where he gained expertise in crude oil trading and refinery economics.

Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tulane University.

Jim Kennett

Jim Kennett, Managing Editor, Americas

Jim is a seasoned journalist with almost 30 years of newspaper, wire and online experience in the US and abroad, much of it covering the energy industry. Since 2008, he has overseen the production of proprietary data and related news and analysis for the America’s operations of Argus Media. His dedicated team of about 100 journalists and analysts produce more than 40 publications. Prior to Argus, Jim worked in editing and reporting roles for such organizations as Bloomberg, Houston Chronicle and The Moscow Times, and has covered events from regions as disparate as Washington, D.C., Moscow, Turkey and Northern Iraq.
Kristine Klavers

Kristine Klavers, Senior Vice President Consulting, Americas

Kristine has more than 23 years of experience in consulting and is an expert on global fuels and refining. Prior to joining Argus, she was in charge of Hart Energy’s Research & Consulting division where she built their global presence, established the International Fuel Quality Center, and was publisher of FUEL Magazine. Prior to joining Hart Energy in 1996, Kristine worked in the UK on the business management of oxygenated fuels for LyondellBasell, which acquired Arco Chemical Co in 1998, as well as a process engineer for Japanese Gasoline Co. (JGC) in Japan. 

A native of Oslo, Norway, Kristine earned her master’s degree in chemical engineering at the University of Twente, Netherlands. She also developed a catalyst for methane coupling at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan that was patented and sold to the industry.

Christina Vassil Wimmer

Christina Vassil Wimmer, Senior Vice President, Sales

Christina Wimmer is SVP of sales for the Americas region, based in Houston. She joined Argus in 2008, managing Northeast accounts from our Washington DC office and moved to Houston in 2011 to oversee and develop the growing sales team. Christina works alongside the sales and marketing teams developing commercial strategy and is responsible for sales operations in Houston, New York, Brazil, Mexico and Calgary. Before joining Argus, Christina worked for the American Bankers Association, Bloomberg and Nasdaq, where she held a variety of roles in sales, business development and marketing.

Christina holds a BA in Communications from George Mason University.

Vanessa Viola

Vanessa Viola, Vice President, Latin America Southern Cone

Vanessa Viola is Brazil Country Manager and re-joined Argus in 2011. Vanessa is based in Rio de Janeiro and is working to expand the company’s business in that country.

Vanessa initially joined Argus in 2001, working as deputy editor of the Argus European Products report and editor of the Argus International LPG report before leaving in 2005 to work as an LPG broker with Gibson in London. Prior to her assignments in the UK, Vanessa worked as a political and financial correspondent for Reuters (Brasilia, Sao Paulo), as a financial reporter for Brazil’s leading news agency Agencia Estado and as a press relations officer with energy engineering company Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), also based in Sao Paulo.

A graduate from Brazil’s Casper Libero University with a BA in social communications, Vanessa has a Masters in international journalism from London’s City University. In addition to Portuguese and English, she is also fluent in Spanish.

Miles Weigel

Miles Weigel, Senior Vice President, Americas

Miles Weigel is Senior Vice-President of Argus in New York, responsible since 2002 for Argus’ global business with commodity exchanges and management of the northeast region.

Miles started his career in the energy industry 30 years ago as Managing Consultant with DRI, the former economic forecasting unit of McGraw-Hill, active in market analysis and trading strategy development for major energy and chemical companies. In 1988, he became Vice-President at Saladin, an energy pricing analysis software leader. In 2000, Miles became Chief Operating Officer of IPG, acquired by Argus for its electricity pricing services.

Miles received an MS in policy analysis and econometrics, and a BA in biology from the University of Rochester.
