Howard Childs is BP’s Coke Business Development Manager North America with 30 years of experience in the oil and carbon industries. His has spent the past 15 years as part of the leadership team of BP’s North American coke business located in Huntington Beach, California. He is a graduate from the University of Kent at Canterbury with a BSc in Chemistry and from the University of Redlands California with an MBA. Howard is a key contributor to BP’s vision to deliver value that is aligned with customer needs both now and into the future.

BP markets over 1.5 million tons of calcined coke produced primarily from its refineries in Europe and North America as well as over 2 million tons of green coke with full technical service to assist customers maximize value from BP offers.

He has worked in different sectors and companies on the sourcing and trading. He trained purchasing departments on the topic of e-purchasing. He has been dealing with solid fuels over 15 years. His experience includes Purchasing of solid fuels for the cement plants, sourcing for distribution and trading. He worked for multinational Cement companies such as Lafarge and Cimpor in Turkey. He joined Capex Group in 2010 to manage distribution company in Turkey. He was also responsible all trading activities of CAPEX between 2014 and January 2016. He joined HTS Fuels in beginning of 2016 in order to set up distribution business in Turkey. He is the General Manager of HTS Fuel Turkey, HTS Petrol ve Enerji A.S.

George is the promoter and Chief Executive of Trinity Energy and he has over 18 years of experience in the Cement Industry . Previously he was the Director for Energy and Strategic Sourcing for LafargeHolcim Group for the operations in the Middle East, Africa, India and Central Europe . For the Past 7 years, George was based in Egypt facing the challenges of the fuel crisis for the cement industry and played a leadership role with the fuel mix evolution for the LafargeHolcim operations in Egypt and the MEA region .

Previously, George was with Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) and Pearson Education in various capacities in Africa and Middle East . George has also served as chairperson for various Industrial Associations and Government Advisory Committees on energy optimization strategies in several countries in the region. George holds a Bachelor Degree in Chemistry , Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) of the United Kingdom and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business Management.
Frank Brannvoll

Frank O. Brannvoll has been Manager of Energy, Economic Studies and Statistics at European cement association Cembureau since June 2016. Frank is responsible for price forecasting across the entire energy complex, covering oil, coal, gas, power, CO2, and particularly petroleum coke markets. He previously worked for Electrabel – now Engie – establishing and managing the trading desks within energy. Frank was also a Board Member of the Romanian, Bulgarian and Greek trading companies within GDF Suez and a member of the group of hedging committees responsible for physical purchasing and hedging decisions.

Frank has also worked for StoraEnso, where he established and headed the firm’s commodity and energy risk management worldwide, covering power, oil, coal, gas, and carbon, and participated in establishing markets for pulp and paper products, as well as the recycled paper market. Prior to joining StoraEnso, Frank worked as Treasurer within industrial group FLS Industries, covering exposures for the sale of cement plants and spare parts for kilns within the cement industry. Since 1980, before he joined industrial companies Frank worked within the foreign exchange market in Nordea and Citibank.

Diego has been in Port, Logistics and Warehouse operation for over 15 years, personally contributing to the evolution, growth and international expansion of PTP Group due to his business-development orientation and his ability to identify and maximize opportunities in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay; through the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway.
Leadership, interpersonal skills and versatility have allowed him to directly manage company teams (+150 staff), client relations (i.e. Traders, Producers, Freight-Forwarders, etc.) and government relations (i.e. Production Department, Agriculture Department, Customs, amongst others).

He is a TUV certified CDM Expert in Energy and Environment for Cement Sector. His book, “Mineral Admixtures in Cement and Concrete”, published by CRC Press, is considered as a leading international reference book on the subject.

He has 42 years long standing experience teaching, training, research and consultancy in the areas of cement manufacturing, durability of concrete and utilization of industrial and agricultural wastes in building materials. With over 50 publications, he is a reviewer of technical papers for number of international journals.

Todd Reutlinger is the Manager, Petroleum Coke and Sulfur. Todd has more than 25 years of experience in engineering, refining, business development and strategy, midstream and supply and trading.

Todd began his career in Ponca City in the Process Engineering Department. From there he moved to the Ponca City refinery and worked as a process engineer and in economics and planning. In 1999, Todd moved to commercial as the Mid-Continent clean product supply coordinator. In 2002, Todd moved into the Strategy and Business Development group supporting the Western region. In 2004, Todd become the Optimization Manager at Ferndale refinery, and then to Bartlesville to help lead the Truck and Rail Organization. Returning to Commercial Supply and Trading in 2010 to trade NGL’s. Todd moved to his current role as Manager of Phillips 66 Coke and Sulfur group in December 2014.

Todd earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Petroleum Engineering and Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University.

Ivan Nikolic is the Business Development Director for Transmarine Navigation Corporation, a ship agency that serves vessel charterers and owners from offices in the US Gulf and US West Coast. Ivan has over a decade of experience in ocean shipping and port logistics. He specializes in presenting customers with detailed information about port nuances and coordinates with Transmarine's dry cargo operations to assure optimized vessel loading. Originally from Serbia, Ivan has been based in Long Beach, California since 2005.

Bob Bestian has been working exclusively in the petroleum coke business since 1992. He has extensive professional experience in North American supply and sourcing, marketing worldwide – especially eastern Asia, and has managed many kinds of operational and logistical challenges associated with petroleum coke, to include environmental issues.

A graduate of the University of Illinois in International Relations, Bob’s professional career began as a US Army officer for 13 years, with various assignments in Europe, Central America, and throughout the US.

Since joining the petroleum coke industry, Bob has been located in southern California, which included working for Oxbow Carbon & Minerals for 4.5 years and then 18 years for Mitsui. He is very familiar with sales and operations, almost any contractual issue, plus logistical and marketing challenges. He has delivered petcoke by truck, rail, barge, containers, super-sacks, and in ocean-going vessels as small as 1200dwt to as large as 190,000dwt.

Moreover, his marketing experience into Japan, China, Korea, and India is widespread, delivering petcoke into almost any industry, blended to any quality, and at practically any lot-size. In addition to Asia, his transactions include direct sales to the Middle East (to include Pakistan and UAE), Europe, and South America.
Evan Hyde
Evan Hyde, Director Field Technology,

Evan Hyde is the Director of Field Services for Inc. Formerly he was president of Telaxe, a coker consulting firm. He previously was president of C2 Nano Technology where they researched surface treatments to combat fouling and corrosion issues in cokers and other petrochemical process units. He was a Senior Engineering Advisor for Becht Engineering Co., Inc. New Jersey. Evan has consulted on processing improvement and reliability initiatives for coking clients around the world. He also participated in onsite peer assessments of Coker Units at eight refineries which included improvements in maintenance work practices, process enhancements, and turnaround scope optimization.

Prior to joining Becht, Evan worked for ExxonMobil Research and Engineering, as a process engineer, with assignments in research, and troubleshooting for heavy oil upgrading equipment. He holds a B.S. of Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

One of Evan's current projects is the Coker Roadshow - a 2 year tour to visit and support every delayed coker in the USA and Canada.

He has provided advisory services for some of the world’s most successful petroleum refining, energy production, chemicals, petrochemicals, logistics and biotechnology organizations, as well as for banks, sovereign wealth funds, government agencies and entrepreneurial firms.

Prior to joining Argus, Hayden was responsible for global thermal coal, uranium and precious metals market analytics and forecasting as part of Macquarie Bank’s commodities research team based in London. This involved providing fundamental market research and forecasts for both Macquarie bank divisions and external clients. Hayden also held the position of Macroeconomist prior to joining the commodities team, focusing on the Australian economy.

Hayden obtained an Honors degree in Economics at the University of Melbourne along with a Bachelor of Information Systems.

Lauren Masterson has been the editor of Energy Argus Petroleum Coke since the end of 2012, helping to relaunch it as a weekly publication and adding anode-grade market coverage. She started out at Argus covering the US coal markets. Prior to joining Argus, Lauren was the editor of an ocean technology magazine, and she had previously written for political and lifestyle publications. A native of New York, Lauren has lived in Washington, DC, since 2006.

Ross Allen is responsible for business development, management and market relationships for Americas metals and mining services, using two decades’ commodities and financial reporting experience to help our customers manage risk. Before his current role, Allen covered commodities and financial markets for Argus in Washington DC as bureau chief and senior editor.

Prior to Argus, Allen covered financial markets and commodities in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa for a financial wire service and began his career working as a paramedic in Connecticut before turning his hand to journalism. He holds a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University.
