Dinara Millington, Vice President Research, CERI

Dinara Millington joined CERI in February 2004 and assumed her current role as Vice President, Research in April 2014. Dinara is responsible for managing the Institute's research agenda including leading the oil sands projects, assisting in the production of market research, economic analysis and economic modeling. Ms. Millington has participated in various projects involving oil sands, crude oil, natural gas, LNG, and renewable energy.

Dinara is also Editor-in-Chief of the Institute's Commodity Reports on crude oil and natural gas and provides economic commentary for CBC, Global TV, The Globe and Mail, the BNN and other local, national and international news outlets.

Dinara graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Calgary, specializing in Econometrics and Time-series Analysis. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with minor in Finance. Ms. Millington spent some time studying at Masarykov University in Brno, Czech Republic, as well as worked and lived abroad in Kazakhstan.
Pat Melia, Director, Derivatives Trading,  Koch Supply and Trading
Pat Melia,
Derivatives Trader, Koch Supply & Trading

Pat Melia is based in NYC as a Derivatives Trader with Koch Supply & Trading, LP. He currently trades paper derivatives on ethanol and crude differentials, and has trading experience in crude oil, natural gas, refined products, NGLs and petchems. Pat is well versed in swaps and options, hedging tools which the Koch desk communicates as a resource and liquidity provider to a diverse customer base that includes producers, refiners, midstream marketers, and consumers with exposure to commodity prices. Prior to joining Koch’s Derivatives desk in 2005, Pat held various Upstream exploration assignments as a Geophysicist with Atlantic Richfield before moving into Downstream trading with ARCO and Texaco. A frequent visitor to Calgary, Pat is well known within the Canadian oil patch and counts many business partners and friends here. Pat earned university degrees in Geology (Albany, NY), Geophysics (Texas A&M), and Finance (UCLA).
Neil Earnest
Neil Earnest,
President, Muse Stancil

Neil K. Earnest is the President of Muse, Stancil & Co. with over 30 years of industry experience. Muse provides customized consulting services to the downstream energy industry, focusing on offering an integrated combination of technical and business expertise.

As a consultant, he has worked on a broad range of assignments in the downstream sector around the world. Neil has also headed most of Muse’s Canadian engagements related to market analysis and development of business strategy, with a concentration on assisting clients interested in upstream-downstream integration possibilities.

Prior to joining Muse in 1991, Neil was with Phillips Petroleum Company for 11 years in a variety of refinery and headquarters positions. Neil holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from University of Houston - Clearlake. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas.
Sandy Fielden
Sandy Fielden,
Director, Oil and Products Research, Morningstar

Mr. Fielden is the Director of Research for the Commodities and Energy group at Morningstar. Prior to joining Morningstar in 2016, he was Director of Energy Analytics within RBN Energy. At RBN, he authored and edited a daily blog distributed to 20,000 energy professionals and frequently presented at RBN’s “School of Energy” conferences.

Mr. Fielden has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and holds the Energy Risk Professional designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Fielden holds a bachelor’s degree in international history and politics from Leeds University and a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in international business from Bradford University.
Dominic Haywood
Dominic Haywood,
Head of North American Crude Analysis, Energy Aspects

Dominic specialises in North American crude oil market analysis. His work at Energy Aspects centres on supply and demand fundamentals, with a particular emphasis on regional crude balances, trade flows and grades. His research covers specialist areas such as Cushing storage, pipeline arbitrage and Canadian oil sands market dynamics. Prior to Energy Aspects he worked for a London based commodity fund as an oil derivatives trader, and for UBS in New York. Dominic holds a BA from Nottingham University and a GDL in Law from the University of Law, London. Dominic is currently an MBA candidate at Warwick Business School, where he is enrolled on the Global Energy MBA programme.
Joe Leto

President, EAI

Joe Leto is the co-founder and president of EAI, Inc. (Energy Analysts International, Inc.) headquartered in Westminster, Colorado. EAI, Inc. was incorporated in 1982 to provide companies in the energy business with leading edge industry studies, products and services across the spectrum of the energy business from resources through manufacturing and into the marketplace. One of Joe’s and EAI, Inc.’s areas of expertise has been logistics with project, strategy and investment support work across the pipeline, rail, marine and terminals business segments. Joe has an M.S. Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, B.S. Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University as well as graduate studies in Mineral Economics at the Colorado School of Mines.
Bill Lywood
Bill Lywood,
President, Crude Quality Inc.

Bill has been a long time contributor and Director with the Crude Oil Quality Association. He has co-chaired the Canadian crude technical committee and participates in a variety of other COQA initiatives.

Bill Is most commonly associated with the data system which he designed and manages on behalf of the Canadian producers. Prior experiences in the crude production and refining industries complement Bill's understanding of petroleum reserve quality and value.

Bill is president of Crude Quality Inc., and holds a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. 
Eric Peterson
Eric Peterson, Director of Analytics, ARB Midstream, LLC

Mr. Peterson is the Director of Market Research and Analytics at ARB Midstream, LLC, a midstream energy company based in Denver, CO. Mr. Peterson’s background includes over 10 years of professional experience in finance and market research, with an emphasis on the energy sector. Prior to joining ARB Midstream, he was the Manager of Strategic Planning and Market Research at NGL Energy Partners, one of the nation’s fastest growing energy MLP’s. Before transitioning into the energy sector, Mr. Peterson began his career as a Financial Analyst performing valuation analysis and researching equities and fixed income across multiple sectors. Mr. Peterson attended Utah Valley University where he received a B.S. in Finance.
Martin Ignasiak
Martin Ignasiak,
Partner, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP

Martin is the national Co-Chair of Osler’s Regulatory, Environmental, Aboriginal and Land Group. He has extensive experience in developing and executing strategies for obtaining necessary regulatory approvals for large scale industrial projects, including oil sands facilities, coal mines, pipelines and electric generation facilities. In his capacity as a regulatory lawyer, Martin has negotiated numerous impact benefit agreements. Martin also has extensive experience in electricity market regulation. Martin has appeared before all levels of court, including the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Canada. He has also appeared before, among others, the National Energy Board, the Alberta Energy Regulator (Energy Resources Conservation Board), Alberta Utilities Commission, Joint Review Panels established under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board, the Mackenzie Valley Review Board and Land and Water Board and the Nunavut Water Board.
Naomi Esfahani, Market Analysis & Research, Suncor Energy Marketing Inc.
Naomi Esfahani, Market Analysis & Research, Suncor Energy Marketing, Inc.

Naomi Esfahani works at Market Analysis and Research group of Suncor Energy Supply Trading and Optimization, and contributes to the corporation’s outlook on short and long term fundamentals of crude oil markets. She is also a regional director of Professional Risk Managers International Association (PRMIA).

Naomi started her career as an engineer at Schlumberger Technology Center based in Tokyo and was involved in technology development projects for oilfields application, particularly in wireline, drilling and measurement services. Prior to joining Suncor, she was a risk analyst at BP Integrated Supply and Trading, and her duties included market risk oversight and credit risk projects. Naomi has also worked as a SAS Institute as a consultant with primary focus of developing advanced analytics for trading and risk management applications.

Naomi holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Robotics and Automation Engineering from Tohoku University (Japan), a Master of Mathematical Finance and a PhD in Operations Research from the University of Southern California (USA).
Tom Whalen
Tom Whalen, President and CEO, Petroleum Services Association of Canada

President and CEO of the Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC), Tom Whalen brings over 35 years of domestic and international industry experience to the position. Mr. Whalen is a past director of the PSAC Board. He was President & Managing Director of Baker Hughes Canada from December 2013 to May 2016. Previous to being appointed President of Canada, he was Vice President of the Canadian Pressure Pumping product line.

Mr. Whalen started his career in the energy sector in oil/gas well servicing, managing a rig fleet that provided a wide range of downhole services related to well completion, stimulation and work overs. He joined Baker Hughes in 1990 as an account manager for the oilfield chemicals division. During his tenure with Baker Hughes, he held positions including, field manager, district manager, business unit manager, country manager, Vice President of Marketing for Canada and the enterprise Vice President of Water Management.

Mr. Whalen also sits on the boards of four Calgary based organizations; the Women in Need Society, Little Rock Resources Ltd., Drillform Technical Services and Panoptic Automation Solutions.

His broad industry experience, combined with his MBA, gives Mr. Whalen the combination of insight and leadership that delivers value for PSAC member companies.

Geoffrey Cann is a Partner in the Calgary office of Deloitte, where he focuses on helping oil and gas companies create and embrace a digital future. He has been spearheading Deloitte’s advisory services in blockchain in the oil and gas industry.

Edward Arnold, Senior Consultant, Argus

Senior Consultant, covering petrochemicals, refining, upstream and biotechnology for Argus Consulting Services. He has 39 years’ experience conducting market risk analysis, feasibility studies and project valuations working for Jacobs Consultancy and UOP. He has provided advisory services for some of the world’s most successful petroleum refining, energy production, chemicals, petrochemicals, logistics and biotechnology organizations, as well as for banks, sovereign wealth funds, government agencies and entrepreneurial firms.
Jeff Kralowetz Vice President Business Development Argus

Jeff Kralowetz, Vice President Business Development, Argus

Jeff leads Argus business development in crude oil and NGL markets in North America. He opened Argus’ office in Calgary in 2010, and oversaw the expansion of crude oil and NGL price indices in Canada through the beginning of 2013. Previously, Jeff served as Argus’ news editor for the Americas.

A graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, Jeff served 5 years as an aviation officer. He holds a master of arts degree from Baylor University.
