Delek US has discussed purchasing some or all shares of independent refiner Alon USA, according to a disclosure to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Neither company could be immediately reached for comment.

Alon disclosed the talks following reports in Israeli media earlier this week, according to the filing. Alon operates 156,000 b/d of active refining capacity in Louisiana and Texas and has plans to build a 140,000 b/d railed crude unloading facility in southern California. It also says it is the largest licensee of the convenience store chain 7-Eleven in the United states and has 300 stores in Texas and New Mexico.

Delek recently completed expansions adding 25,000 b/d to its now 155,000 b/d of refining capacity in Texas and Arkansas. It also operates wholesale and retail networks with 362 stores in seven states.
