The US Treasury Department extended the authorization of US LPG exports to Venezuela through 12 July, 2023.
The authorization only pertains to LPG and does not permit any payment-in-kind of petroleum or petroleum products. The US lifted sanctions on LPG exports into Venezuela in July 2021 as a "humanitarian" gesture, US officials said at the time, as the country is dependent on LPG for residential cooking.
The effects of of the extension will likely be negligible. US LPG exports to Venezuela remained nearly nil since February 2019, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). US LPG exports to Venezuela peaked in November 2013 at 1.176mn bl, according to the EIA.
