Nucor keeps plate prices flat

Electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaker Nucor has kept its ex-works discrete plate prices unchanged.

The company announced on 28 September that its discrete plate prices would remain flat at $1,530/short ton (st) for thicknesses from 0.375-2in and widths of 72-120in. Between 2.25-3in thick is priced at $1,570/st.

Orders are now being taken for November production.

Quench and tempered and normalized plate pricing both stayed flat at $2,385/st and $1,730/st, respectively.

Spot plate prices assessed by Argus remained below Nucor's announced level this week at $1,470/st on limited trades.
