FAQ
How do I resize or reposition a widget within a workspace?
To reposition a widget, place your cursor over the title bar at the top of the widget. Then click and drag the widget to reposition it within the workspace. If you want to change the size of a widget, hover your cursor over the widget, grab the triangle icon in the lower right corner and drag to resize.
Why can't I edit a workspace that was shared with me by a colleague?
Workspaces that are shared with you are read-only and can only be changed by the user who created the workspace. However, you can create your own copy of a shared workspace that you can then edit as you like. To do this, click on Create copy in the top right corner of the workspace. Please note that any updates by the owner of the original workspace will not appear in your copy.
I would like to send feedback on using Workspaces. How do I do that?
We would love to hear any feedback you might have and any suggestions for improvements. To do so please send an email to: workspaces@argusmedia.com.
How exactly do different filter categories (Sector, Geography, etc.) work in a News widget when combined?
Search uses Boolean operators “OR” within each category and “AND” across different filter categories.
If you select more than one filter within each category (e.g., Sector), search results will include articles that have “Sector 1” tag OR “Sector 2” tag (OR “Sector 3” tag, etc.).
If you select filters from more than one category (e.g., Sector and Geography), search results will include stories that have the specified Sector tags AND specified Geography tags.
When you combine the two and select multiple items in multiple categories (e.g., Sector and Geography), your search results will include stories tagged ("Sector 1 " OR " Sector 2") AND ("Geography 1" OR " Geography 2").
Are Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) available in configuring filters?
Unfortunately not at the moment. However, if you are interested in being able to use Boolean operators to create more refined filters, let us know. The more requests we receive for this functionality, the higher it will go on our development priority list.
Can I filter by keyword?
Yes, you can. To search by keyword, type your keyword in the Search box. When the predictive search panel pops up click on “Articles including the keyword ____”.
Can I filter by company?
Yes, you can use keywords to search for company names. This works well for company names that are unique, but there are some company names like Total that don’t work well for keyword searches. If you are interested in enhanced searching/filtering by company, let us know. The more requests we get, the higher up in our development queue we can move this feature.
Can I filter for articles by author?
Yes, you can. To filter for articles by author, include the name of the author as a keyword.
How do I remove or re-order the rows in a price widget?
Open the Settings menu (Cog icon) in the top right of the widget, then click on “Edit”. Once the price widget configuration screen is open, go to the second step, “Refine details”.
- To remove a row, hover your cursor over the row, then click the “X” that shows to the right.
- To re-order the rows you can either use the “Sort by” menu at the top or click and drag each individual rows into the order you require by using the handle icon (6 dots) to the left of each row.
How do I remove or re-order columns in a price widget?
Open the Settings menu (Cog icon) in the top right of the widget, then click on “Edit”. Once the price widget configuration screen is open, go to the third step, “Configure Columns”.
- To remove a column, hover of the column and click the “X” that appears just below the column heading.
- To re-order columns, hover over a column, then you can click and drag the column to a new location.
- To add new columns, drag one of the Descriptors or Data Values labels from the bottom of the screen onto your price table.
Can I show spreads in a Price widget?
Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment. However, you can show spreads between two prices (i.e. price A – price B) in a Chart widget. If you are interested in showing spreads in Price widgets too, let us know. The more requests we get, the higher up in our development queue we can move this feature.
Can I calculate formulas in a Price or Chart widget? (e.g., price A + price B, or price A * 70% + price B * 30%)
Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment. If you are interested in this feature, let us know. The more requests we get, the higher up in our development queue we can move this feature.
How does sharing work?
To share a workspace, click on Share in the top right corner of the workspace. A dialogue box will appear that contains a unique URL. Click on the Copy link button to copy the link onto your clipboard, then paste the link into an email or a message.
The shared workspace will appear in the recipient’s “Shared with me” section of their Workspaces homepage and will be in read-only mode, meaning they will not be able to modify the shared workspace in any way. On the other hand, any changes the owner makes to the original workspace will be reflected in their shared workspace too.
The recipients will be able to create their own copy of a shared workspace and edit this copy as they like. This copy will now be a separate workspace. No changes made by the owner on the original workspace will be reflected in this copy.
What happens if a colleague shares a Workspace with me, but then that colleague leaves the company? Can I still access the shared Workspace?
Yes, you can. Workspaces remain shared indefinitely, even if the creator of the Workspace has an inactive Argus subscription. The only way a Workspace that someone shared with you would become unavailable is if the creator of that Workspace chooses to unshare it.
How do I unshare a Workspace?
To unshare a workspace, click on Share in the top right corner of the workspace. This will open the dialogue box that contains the unique URL used to share the workspace. Then click "Unshare" in the bottom left corner of the box.
How do I add a new price to an existing chart widget?
Open the Settings menu (Cog icon) in the top right of the Chart widget. Once you are in the Configure chart dialogue box, click on the “Add prices” search box in the top left-hand corner to show the price tree menu. Search and select the new price to add. To confirm your selection, click “Done” or click anywhere else outside the menu. Your new price will be added to the list and plotted as a line chart (up to a maximum of 6 prices can be added to each Chart widget).
How do I amend existing prices?
Specific price details (i.e., forward period, timestamp, price type, unit and currency) can be easily amended. Move your cursor over the value you would like to amend, click and select a new value from the menu. New price lines will be created if multiple checkboxes are selected (up to a maximum of 6 prices). Please note: If the value does not show as active (orange and underlined) the value cannot be changed.
How do I duplicate an existing price?
To simply duplicate a price, open the Settings menu (Cog icon) in the top right of the Chart widget. Once you are in the “Configure chart” dialogue box, click on the “Duplicate” icon on the left side of each price. An exact copy of that price will be created.
Also, if you select multiple checkboxes from the price detail menus, a new price line will be created for each selection. In this case, rather than being exact copies, the resulting prices will reflect the different values selected (e.g., month 1, month 2, month 3).
How do I create a spread chart?
Open the Settings menu (Cog icon) in the top right and click on “Edit”. Ensure the two prices you want to spread are already displayed.
- Click on ‘Spread’ on the price you want to spread against, the base price.
- Select the comparison price from the spread menu (if the price is greyed out, either you don’t have access to that price, or the price is incompatible with the selected basis).
The spread between the two prices will now be plotted in the chart. A maximum of 3 spreads (6 prices) can be created in each chart. You can also mix spreads and standard line charts within the same chart (up to a maximum of 6 prices in total can be added to each Chart widget).
How to remove a spread?
Open the Settings menu (Cog icon) in the top right and click on “Edit”. Click on “Spread” on the base price. From the menu, select ‘None’. Both the base price and comparison price will now be plotted as standard line charts.
You can also remove individual components of a spread. Hover your cursor over the row you want to remove, then click the “X” that shows to the right. The remaining price will be plotted as a standard line chart.
How can I export prices from a Price Widget?
Click the “export” icon in the top right-hand corner of the widget (to the left of the Cog icon). You can use the default option “Export 1 year” or click on “More options” to select individual prices or to configure a different time period. This will export to .XLSX format.
How can I export prices from a Chart Widget?
Click the ‘export’ icon in the top right-hand corner of the widget (to the left of the Cog icon) and select your preferred format. You can also export by clicking the “export” icon in the top right-hand corner in the “Configure chart” dialogue box. Either way you will have the option to export in JPG, PDF and XLSX format. JPG and PDF are image replications of the Chart whereas .XLSX will contain the datapoints from the Chart.
