Taiwan's Eva Air saw a slight recovery in passenger traffic last month from a historical low in May, as Covid-19 travel restrictions mostly remained, although the air cargo it carried saw a greater increase.
Eva carried 22,337 passengers in June, 97.5pc lower than a year earlier but 2.3pc higher than in May. It carried a record low of 21,831 passengers in May, 98pc lower than in May 2019.
Passenger traffic during January-June totalled 2.102mn, 66.4pc less than the 6.262mn passengers carried a year earlier.
It carried 57,459t of cargo last month, 10.18pc higher from May and 30.39pc higher than the 44,068t carried in June 2019. Cargo volumes in first-half 2020 reached 294,822t, up by 2.8pc from 286,803t in the same period last year.
Taiwan's jet fuel exports in May had seen a year-on-year increase amid the reduced domestic demand. Taiwan exported 148,556 kilolitres (30,000 b/d) of jet fuel for the month, up by 42.6pc from 104,203 kl exported in May 2019, according to Taiwan's bureau of energy.
Taiwan consumed 17,005 kl of oil equivalent (kloe) jet fuel in May, 33.5pc lower than the 25,580 kloe consumed in May 2019.
