Towngas

For 162 years, Towngas has been committed to developing sustainable energy industry, from city gas to green energy, leveraging its R&D and ESG strengths. Through its biomass platform, Towngas has successfully developed HVO, sustainable aviation fuel, and green methanol.

Utilising its industry research integration platform, Towngas has developed proprietary technologies to turn waste into energy, enabling use of agricultural, forestry and urban waste. The R&D team has developed co-firing solutions that advance the green transition in the petrochemicals sector.

Towngas secured China's first ISCC EU and ISCC Plus certifications in 2022 for its first green methanol facility. These certify that methanol used in renewable fuels and chemicals meets EU standards.

Nacero

Nacero is a renewable fuels project development company focused on using a catalytic process to convert methane to fuel at scale. The company uses renewable and traditional natural gas as feedstocks combined with renewable power. Its first project will be located adjacent to the Texas Gulf coast and produce approximately 1.9mn t/yr of marine-grade methanol and/or biomethanol. Nacero’s feedstock and technology makes its biomethanol cost-competitive with all methanol production methodologies.

Nacero’s low-carbon methanol will be within the FuelEU Maritime regulation’s greenhouse gas intensity (GHG) limits, the biomethanol portion will be compliant with the EU RED III regulations, and its entire renewable supply chain will be ISCC EU certified. The company will work with offtakers to adjust GHG intensity downward (or upward if desired), and meet any internal sustainability guidelines on a commercially reasonable basis. Its first facility is expected to come online in 2029.
