Tomoaki Ichida has been a Managing Executive Officer of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) since
April 2023, responsible for The Americas Area. He also holds the post of president of MOL
(Americas) Holdings, Inc. In addition, he established a corporate venture capital called “MOL
Switch” in May, 2023, and has been leading the company as CEO in order to invest to the
climate tech area by collaboration with startups.
He joined MOL in 1992 and began his career in the human resource division. After a couple of
months, he was moved to container ships business and worked for about 9 years including 4
years stint serving at MOL subsidiary in Thailand.
In 2001, he returned to MOL Tokyo headquarters and placed in charge of the human resource
division again. In 2004, he was transferred to Tanker Division and started his carrier in Energy
business section. He was in charge of chartering, operation, and fleet planning in methanol
tankers and clean product tankers business as managerial role. During the period, he was
seconded to MOL subsidiary in London in 2011 and was appointed as General Manager in
Tanker Division. After that, he was seconded to Asahi Tanker Co., Ltd. in 2018 and assigned as
General Manager of Corporate Planning Division. During his assignment in Asahi Tanker Co., Ltd.
he established e5 Lab Inc., which develop and promote the electrification and digitalization in
shipping.
In 2020, he returned to MOL Tokyo headquarters and took the role of General Manger of the
Energy Business Strategy Division, and in 2022 he was appointed as Executive Officer of MOL.

As Senior Manager in the Energy Seeding Department since October of last year, Lizzy plays a pivotal role in promoting SCOA's sustainability, social performance, and ESG efforts, with a special focus on decarbonizing the marine bunkering industry. Her current role emphasizes the use of RNG/LNG and alternative fuels like ammonia to mitigate the industry’s environmental impacts. Lizzy and the Energy Seeding Department support SCOA's engagement in ammonia bunkering by specifically assisting in the facilitation of North American consortia, aiming to establish ammonia as a viable green fuel option for the marine sector. Sumitomo Corporation has engaged in consortia globally, including those in Asia and the Middle East. In her discussion, Lizzy will share valuable insights into ammonia bunkering, underlining the importance of regional collaboration and strategic alliances in advancing the decarbonization of the marine industry.

Emily Newes is the Integrated Modeling & Economic Analysis Group Manager in the Strategic Energy Analysis Center at NREL, where she has worked since 2009. She specializes in system dynamics modeling and was awarded the System Dynamics Society Application Award in 2018. She has 20+ years of experience in energy modeling, analysis, and data. She currently leads bioeconomy scenario analysis and modeling projects funded by the Bioenergy Technologies Office of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Department of State, focusing primarily on potential biofuel deployment in the aviation and maritime industries. She was recently awarded a DOE Secretary’s Achievement Award as part of the Sustainable Aviation Fuels Grand Challenge Team. She serves as chair of the alternative aviation fuel subcommittee of the Transportation Research Board. Emily received a BA in Mathematical Economics from Colgate University and an MS in Mineral Economics with a focus in Operations Research from the Colorado School of Mines.

ANTHONY J. ODAK has been the Chief Operating Officer at John W. Stone Oil Distributor LLC., in Gretna, LA since 2008. Mr. Odak obtained his BS degree in Marine Systems Engineering and USCG Unlimited HP Engineering License, from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1996 and received his MBA in Finance from Tulane University in 2006. Mr. Odak oversee the operations of Stone Oil’s inland fleet (17 boats, 49 barges), offshore fleet (5 units), and 15 docks and terminals located throughout the lower Mississippi river, Intracoastal Waterway, and Gulf of Mexico. He also serves as the company’s Director of Business Development. Over the years his professional background has included marine surveyor for the American Bureau of Shipping, Owner of Holly Marine Towing, and Territory Manager for ExxonMobil with specialization in Marine Lubricants and Marine Fuels. Mr. Odak has written and presented widely on various aspects of Marine Fuel, and is an expert witness in various cases related to the subjects. He is a participating member of the USCG CTAC and TSAC committees and has co-chaired multiple IMO and USCG Subcommittees related to LNG as a Marine Fuel, and LNG Bunkering, as well as Traditional Marine Bunkering, Midstreaming and SIMOPS. Most recently he has accepted a position with the Board of Advisors at the US Department of Energy Marine Decarbonization Team.

Dario Formenti
System Manager Sustainable Fuels, International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC)

Dario has worked for global certification body the ISCC since 2022, focusing on the maritime and aviation sectors, and biofuels and power-to-liquid technologies in particular. He previously worked as a researcher at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, specialising in sustainable and green chemistry and power-to-X technologies. Dario has a PhD in chemical science from the University of Milan and the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis.

Steve Petridis
Special Advisor to the Chairman, Air Products

Steve has more than 40 years of experience in the energy sector and the broader chemicals industry. His industry experience covers oil and gas exploration, industrial gases, carbon project development, chemicals, hazardous waste and industrial services, green and blue hydrogen, and ammonia, including carbon capture and sequestration. In his current role, Steve provides strategic input and undertakes special assignments and studies.

Monte Shaw

Mr. Shaw has worked on behalf of the biofuels industry for 25 years, serving as the Executive Director of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) since 2005.

Working with a team of three colleagues to pursue IRFA’s mission of fostering the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry, Mr. Shaw is responsible for the management, policy and political agenda, and trade efforts of IRFA.

Previously, Mr. Shaw spent nearly six years as Director of Communications for the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) in Washington, DC. He began his career by working for the campaigns and official offices of numerous candidates and elected officials, including Steve Forbes, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole, U.S. Senator Charles Grassley, U.S. Senator Bob Dole, and U.S. Rep. Jim Lightfoot.

Mr. Shaw was raised on a corn and soybean farm just outside of the southwest Iowa town of Shenandoah, where he still helps his father and brother bring in the harvest. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. He currently resides in West Des Moines with his wife Tina, daughter Eden, son Max, and rescue dog Jackson.

Tom is a chartered Naval Architect who started his career in British Shipbuilders in Barrow-in-Furness. He then joined Lloyd’s Register where he was involved in all aspects of shipbuilding and ship survey, finishing up as a Senior Passenger Ship Specialist. He joined Carnival Corporation & plc in 2000 and has had a variety of senior roles across the group, including three years as SVP Marine Operations for Costa Crociere. Tom is now SVP Maritime Affairs and is primarily engaged leading on Carnival’s decarbonisation strategy (including LNG) and ship recycling.
He chairs several industry committees including the CLIA EU Sustainability Advisory Committee, ICS Passenger Ship Panel, Royal Institution of Naval Architects Environmental Committee and UK Chamber of Shipping Safety and Environmental Committee.

Oleksiy Tatarenko
Senior Principal, Climate-Aligned Industries, Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI)

Oleksiy Tatarenko is a Principal of the Climate-Aligned Industries Programme at US non-profit Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI). Oleksiy leads RMI’s Green Hydrogen Catapult, a joint initiative with the UN’s Climate Change High-Level Champions scheme. The programme promotes global adoption of green hydrogen at a scale needed to limit global warming to 1.5°C from pre-industrial averages — the most ambitious pathway under the Paris climate agreement. Oleksiy has 17 years of experience in roles focusing on systems-level transformation of the energy sector and pioneering business models. He previously led the energy transition programme at Shell, spearheading new initiatives in hydrogen and decarbonisation strategies, as well as providing thought leadership as part of Shell’s leadership team. Before that, Oleksiy founded and led a venture that piloted projects to reduce methane gas leakage in Ukraine. As an advisor to the Ukraine’s energy minister, he helped develop national policy on energy security to promote international investment in the sector.

Prior to Arkview, Mr. Chernyshov was a Managing Director and Investment Committee member at Ziff Brothers Investments, a prominent NY-based family office. At Ziff, Mr. Chernyshov was responsible for the private equity portfolio. Before his tenure at ZBI, Mr. Chernyshov worked at a private equity fund, Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co., focusing on the technology and retail sectors. He successfully completed multiple transactions during his time at KKR. Mr. Chernyshov started his career in finance at the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley, where he was involved in several public listings, acquisitions, restructuring, and financing transactions across various industry segments. He holds a BA in Computer Science and Economics from Amherst College and was recognized as an Osathanugrah Scholar, as well as awarded the James R. Nelson Prize in Economics.

Stefka Wechsler

Stefka Wechsler joined Argus in 2012 as an editor and marine fuel analyst contributing to the daily price and news report Argus Marine Fuels. Formerly a residual fuel oil consultant with Poten & Partners (2006-2012) where she focused on market analysis and scenario planning for fuel oil production, consumption and regulations. While at Poten, she contributed to the monthly Fuel Oil in World Markets and Fuel Oil Opinion reports and co-authored the studies Fuel Oil Prospects 2010-2015, North America ECA 2012-2020 and Marine Fuel Regulations 2010-2025.
Stefka has an extensive network of international marine fuel suppliers, traders, brokers and ship owners and ship charterers. She created and maintains a detailed marine exhaust scrubber database and low-carbon fuels vessels database.
Stefka has an MBA from Fordham University.

David Cummins
President, Blue Sky Maritime Coalition

David Cummins is President of the Blue Sky Maritime Coalition, a non-profit, strategic alliance formed to accelerate the transition of waterborne transportation in Canada and the United States toward net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Prior to his current role, Cummins worked as an executive with Shell with more than 35 years’ experience covering many locations around the world as well as many diverse businesses and skill areas. Cummins was Shell’s Commercial and Business Development Manager for Shipping & Maritime, Americas, and before that served as Vice President of Shell Korea Limited, managing relationships with Korean shipyards and heavy industry. Cummins previously contributed to Shell’s success in technical management, global strategy development, commercial deal making, new business development, strategic customer account management, divestment and portfolio deal teams, capital project planning & execution, and change management/corporate redesign. Cummins is a frequent speaker with various organizations on topics including Shipping Sectoral Decarbonization, Global/International Account Management, Strategy Development, Negotiation/Deal Making and Cultural Differences between Western and Asian Countries. In his personal time Cummins is an avid golfer and photographer and is also sole proprietor of a timber tract operations company in the US.
