TotalEnergies is to supply Air France-KLM Group airlines with up to 1.5mn t of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) over the next 10 years, until 2035.
TotalEnergies will produce the SAF from waste and residue feedstocks at its French and European refineries. Air France-KLM's airlines will use the SAF for flights departing from France, the Netherlands and other European countries.
The agreement follows the two companies' initial one signed in 2022, which included the supply of 800,000t of SAF.
Air France-KLM along with Delta Airlines in August signed an offtake agreement with US renewable fuels producer DG Fuel.
Air France-KLM also contributed to the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Financing Alliance investment fund in July, for SAF that is eligible for RefuelEU Aviation and Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (Corsia) certification.
