Danish firm Maersk Tankers said it will not be taking any new business from Russia in light of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
Maersk Tankers operates the world's largest tanker fleet, with around 220 under management for 49 shipowners.
"As of now, we are not taking on any new business in Russia," the firm said. "We remain in close contact with our partners and will keep assessing the situation and of course, adhere to any further sanctions that may be imposed."
This may cause difficulty in transporting Russian oil. State-owned shipowner Sovcomflot has been sanctioned by the EU.
Maersk Tankers former parent company, Danish transport and logistics firm AP Moller-Maersk, earlier today said it has temporarily suspended new bookings to and from Russia. That is effective from today and covers all Russian gateway ports.
