Qatar's Muntajat cuts Oct sulphur price by $1/t
Qatar's state-owned sulphur producer and marketer Muntajat/Qatar Energy has lowered the Qatar Sulphur Price (QSP) for October slightly to $124/t fob Ras Laffan/Mesaieed.
The price is down by $1/t from its September QSP set at $125/t fob.
The latest adjustment for October implies delivered pricing to China of $147-154/t cfr at current freight rates, which were last assessed on 26 September at $23-24/t to south China and at $28-30/t to Chinese river ports for a shipment of 30,000-35,000t.
But with China cfr assessments at $137-145/t cfr on 26 September, and the Golden Week holidays over 1-7 October, prices in early October are expected to lag against implied delivered values.

Lower Mississippi draught restrictions eased
Houston, 30 September (Argus) — The US Coast Guard (USCG) loosened daught restrictions on sections of the lower Mississippi River following heavy rains upstream from Hurricane Helene . Traffic moving southbound on the lower Mississippi from Tiptonville, Tennessee, to Greenville, Mississippi, can now have a draught up to 10.6ft, while vessels in the region between Greenville to Tunica, Louisiana, can go up to 11ft, according to 26 September notice from the USCG. Tows traversing Tiptonville to Vicksburg, Mississippi, can have six barges wide, while tows traveling through Vicksburg to Tunica can be up to seven barges wide. Northbound tows cannot draft higher than 9.5ft from Vicksburg up through Tiptonville. The same tows cannot have more than six barges wide and more than four of them loaded. All but two locations on the lower Mississippi River rose above their low water threshold and are forecast to remain that way through mid-October, the National Weather Service said. Restrictions were loosened late last week after Hurricane Helene brought flash floods](https://direct.argusmedia.com/newsandanalysis/article/2612780) to the southeastern US following weeks of drought conditions along the lower Mississippi River. Mosaic cut its Q3 sales, halted logistics for Helene
Mosaic cut its Q3 sales, halted logistics for Helene
Houston, 27 September (Argus) — US fertilizer producer Mosaic cut its phosphate sales guidance for the third quarter after curtailing product shipments in preparation from Hurricane Helene. The producer lowered its sales guidance for the third quarter by 250,000t to 1.45-1.65mn t, the company said. Mosaic halted phosphate shipments from its three processing facilities near Tampa Bay, Florida, prior to Hurricane Helene on 23 September and is uncertain shipments will resume by the end of the week. Mosaic ships about 150,000t of phosphate product from Tampa Bay per week, the company said. Mosaic exports phosphates by vessel from the port of Tampa Bay, which shut down yesterday, and ships product by rail across the US. Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on 26 September on the Florida panhandle after barreling north in the Gulf of Mexico just west of Tampa Bay, causing storm surges and power outages in the area. About 4.2mn customers were without power across the southeast US. Mosaic did not respond to requests for comment on the impact Helene has had on its assets near Tampa Bay. The reduction in Mosaic's third quarter sales outlook includes 80,000-100,000t of phosphate production lost earlier this month after Hurricane Francine disrupted operations at its Faustina, Louisiana, plant near New Orleans. Faustina's operations have normalized since, Mosaic said. By Calder Jett Send comments and request more information at feedback@argusmedia.com Copyright © 2024. Argus Media group . Indonesia's Gresik sells prilled urea at $385/t fob
Indonesia's Gresik sells prilled urea at $385/t fob
Amsterdam, 27 September (Argus) — Indonesian state-owned Pupuk subsidiary Gresik awarded today's prilled urea sales tender at $385/t fob. Gresik had offered 20,000t under the tender for loading next month. Initial bids from some trading firms were heard up to the low $370s/t fob. There was no comment from the parties involved. The sale marks an increase on the $381/t fob achieved by fellow Pupuk subsidiary Pusri under its 13 September tender. The deal also highlights the continued premium for prilled urea over granular product in the region, with Chinese exports nonexistent, following the sale of Indonesian granular product in the mid-high $350s/t fob late last week. The supply-demand balance east of Suez remains tight, with India issuing another tender to buy shortly after a previous purchase, a lack of exports from China and increasingly limited availability from the Middle East. Egypt's NCIC awards SOP sales tender
Egypt's NCIC awards SOP sales tender
London, 27 September (Argus) — Egyptian SOP producer NCIC made awards against its 25 September sales tender for 2,000t of water-soluble SOP for loading by the end of October at $655-660/t fob equivalent. It was likely to have been sold to the domestic market. The sales tender marks the first time in two years that the Egyptian fertilizer producer had offered SOP for export. It was previously undergoing maintenance on some of its ovens and supplying to the domestic market exclusively. NCIC said it is now operating at full capacity, producing both water-soluble and powdered SOP, at a capacity of 50 t/day. SOP supply remains tight globally. The return of NCIC as well as the recent exports from Cinis Fertilizer's new 100,000 t/yr SOP plant in Sweden may relieve some pressure on water-soluble SOP availability in the coming months. But this additional supply may be offset by a potential reduction in European supply, where Mannheim producers are struggling to procure liquid sulphur for their operations.
