Port of Rotterdam site visit

This year, attendees of the Argus Clean Ammonia Europe Conference will have the opportunity to participate in a boat tour hosted by the Port of Rotterdam on Tuesday 26 November, during our pre-conference day. Spaces are limited - register now to book your place for an additional €100.

See the latest developments regarding the energy transition in the port and industrial cluster of Rotterdam during a boat tour through the 42km-long port area. This Energy Transition Tour will take you to the sites where the transition is taking place right now: CCS, electrolysers, monopiles, bio-refineries, tank terminals for ammonia and more. You will get to see them first-hand, hear more about the latest developments and network along the way.

The Port of Rotterdam started the energy transition journey about seven years ago to align the companies in the port and industrial complex with the Paris climate agreement and the European ambition to reduce CO2 emissions by 55pc by 2030. The Port of Rotterdam set up a programme to help the existing industries to reduce emissions as well as attract new investments and businesses.

Within the framework of this programme, the Port of Rotterdam Authority joins forces with private enterprises as well as public authorities to realise concrete projects. There are more than 80 projects currently in the port area in which the port authority plays an active role. These are projects such as carbon capture and storage (2.5mn t/yr, under construction), an open access pipeline for green hydrogen (under construction), tank terminal capacity for hydrogen carriers such as ammonia, cracking facilities for ammonia, a dedicated site for electroysers (where the first 200MW electrolysis plant from Shell is under construction), and inland barges sailing on electricity, shore power, etc.

Two Port of Rotterdam guides will share their knowledge with you on this round trip that consists of a three-hour boat tour combined with a one-hour bus tour.
