China's Jiayuan Cobalt is focusing on new energy material production. Its subsidiary Guangdong Jiana Energy has invested in a project to produce cathode materials for lithium batteries.
The project has a design capacity of 20,000 t/yr for cathode materials for lithium batteries. It also built a 5,000 t/yr production line for nickel-cobalt-manganese (Ni-Co-Mn) lithium ternary precursor material last year.
The outlook for so-called new energy, which includes alternative energy and renewables, is improving as the government has called for energy conservation and emissions reductions. The company aims to continue developing its new energy business and supplying high-quality battery material to consumers.
