Cargill will sell its crop inputs and grain locations in Ontario to Quebec-based cooperative La Coop federee.
The sale includes 12 crop inputs facilities, which sell fertilizer and other products, located in Alliston, Clinton, Courtland, Harriston, Harrow, Melbourne, Mount Albert, Princeton, Shetland, Talbotville, Tilbury and Waterford. Five grain facilities are also included in the transaction.
The deal also includes Cargill's 50pc share in South West Ag Partners, a joint venture comprised of five crop inputs and six grain locations in Ontario.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. It is expected to close during the second quarter, pending regulatory review.
Cargill retains its Sarnia export terminal and AgResource wholesale crop inputs business. The agribusiness still has 40 retail locations across Canada, said Glenn Houser, Cargill managing director of crop inputs business.
La Coop adds to its existing footprint in Ontario that already includes four fertilizer terminals and 16 joint-venture retailers.
