Specialty metals producer Allegheny Technologies (ATI) will supply iso-thermal and hot-die forgings to GE Aviation beginning January 2021.
The agreement extends an established relationship between the two companies and ensures that ATI's future product offerings will be used in GE Aviation's commercial jet engines, like the LEAP engine.
ATI anticipates $300mn in annual sales as a result of the agreement, totaling $2.5bn in revenue over the period of the contract.
ATI also extended a purchase agreement with Rolls Royce in April to supply specialty materials for the Trent engine family.
These agreements make ATI a long-term supplier of materials to major single-aisle and twin-aisle aircraft engines.
The single-aisle Airbus 320 series and Boeing 737 series are the most popular plans from the two largest aircraft manufacturers and use GE Aviation's LEAP engine. The twin-aisle, twin-engine Airbus 350 and Boeing 787 series are the most popular wide-body planes for both companies and utilize Rolls Royce's Trent engines.
