Danish shipowner Celsius Shipping has taken receipt of its first LNG carrier — the 180,000m³ Celsius Copenhagen — which is set to start its term charter with Switzerland-based trading firm Gunvor.
The vessel — built by South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) — left South Korea's Gwangyang import terminal yesterday, where it may have undergone a cool-down operation ahead of loading its maiden cargo, and is expected in Singapore on 10 November.
Celsius Shipping is scheduled to receive three more deliveries from SHI between December 2020 and April next year.
The Celsius Copenhagen joins a number of deliveries made in late October, with Greek owner Maran Gas' 173,400m³ Woodside Charles Allen and Japanese firm Mitsui OSK Lines' 174,000m³ LNG Megrez — which will be used at the 16.5mn t/yr Yamal LNG project — also delivered as the month closed.
But scheduled newbuilds for both Bermuda-based Gaslog and Greece's Capital Gas appeared to be delayed from October to this month, bringing the total number of expected November newbuild deliveries to five.
