The UK government has removed the UAE from its travel corridor list, which means anyone arriving from the emirates from today will have to self-isolate for 10 days.
"The decision has been made following a significant acceleration in the number of imported cases, along with the number of reported new cases over the past seven days, which have risen in the UAE by 52pc," the UK transport ministry said, adding that it applies to all four UK nations.
The impact on jet fuel demand will be limited as new lockdowns imposed across the UK mean non-essential travel is banned. From this week, it is also now mandatory for passengers arriving in England and Scotland from all international destinations — whether by boat, plane or train — to take a Covid-19 test up to three days before departing the country they are in to help protect against new strains of coronavirus.
The UK's latest submission to the Joint Organisations Data Initiative show the country's jet-kerosine demand in November was down by 50pc from a year earlier.
