More North American automotive production is being taken offline because of a shortage of semiconductors related to Covid-19 issues.
Stellantis announced that four of its plants will close the week of 27 September. These facilities include the Jefferson North SUV plant in Detroit, Michigan, the Belvidere SUV plant in Illinois, the full-size truck plant in Brampton, Ontario, and the company's full-size truck plant in Saltillo, Mexico.
The Windsor, Ontario minivan plant resumed production today.
Ford will cut production at its Oakville, Ontario, SUV plant the week of 27 September. The company builds the Ford Edge and Lincoln Nautilus SUVs at the plant.
Automakers have struggled for the entire year to find enough semiconductors for their production needs.
