Steel service center Flack Global Metals has opened a service center in Houston, Texas, the company's first physical service center location.
The 60,000ft² facility has a 6,000 t/month capacity and is located on the campus of North Shore Steel near the Port of Houston, the company said yesterday.
Prior to the opening of the Houston facility, Flack has relied exclusively on a network of toll warehouses and processors in the US to store its products, chief commercial officer Keith Shuttlesworth said in a statement.
The Houston location will handle painted hot rolled, cold rolled, galvanized, galvalume, and aluminum products, as well as bare and acrylic coated galvanized and galvalume, bare aluminum, and stainless steel products.
The site includes a slitting line that can handle thicknesses from 0.012-0.135 inches, up to 66-inch wide master coils with outside diameters from 30-72 inches and inside diameters of 20-24 inches with weights of up to 30 short tons.
