Canadian chemicals conglomerate Nova Chemicals will build a recycled polyethylene (rPE) facility in Indiana with an output capacity of 113mn lbs/year.
The plant will be built in Connersville, Indiana, and will employ approximately 125 people. It is currently expected to be completed in early 2025.
The facility will turn rPE film feedstock into pellets using mechanical recycling technology. It will be Nova's first mechanical recycling facility, alongside its upcoming chemical recycling plants.
The plant will largely recycle post-consumer rPE from deposit boxes and retail stores.
Nova said that its Connersville, Indiana, location was chosen for its strategic access to rail and its placement near a number of large metropolitan areas, including Indianapolis.
The company said that the facility's location will allow for "an abundance" of recycling feedstock.
Earlier this month, Nova announced it was considering building a chemical recycling plant in Ontario, Canada, but had not yet made a final decision.
