Japan's renewable power developer Renova has again decided to delay launching its 75MW Ishinomaki Hibarino biomass-fired power generation plant, in northeast Japan's Miyagi prefecture, to March.
Renova previously targeted to begin commercial operations of the plant within this month, but said it was forced to postpone the start-up as the final adjustment of boiler and turbine facilities has taken longer than expected. Renova originally aimed to begin operating the plant in May 2023, but has since postponed its start-up multiple times.
The power plant will consume undisclosed volumes of wood pellets and palm kernel shells to generate around 530 GWh/yr of electricity.
Renova also postponed the start-up of its 75MW Omaezaki biomass power plant in central prefecture Shizuoka to March from July 2023, because of turbine and boiler adjustments. The company began operations at the 74.8MW Tokushima-Tsuda biomass power plant in southern prefecture Tokushima on 9 December 2023, after facility inspections delayed it from the initial start-up date in March 2023.
