Export sales of Argentina's 2024-25 corn crop for the week ended 9 October fell to less than a quarter of the volumes exported in the week prior.
New crop corn export sales dropped to 139,900 metric tons (t) from 588,700t in the previous week, according to the Argentina agriculture ministry. Compared with a year earlier, sales were down from 150,000t.
Export sales of 2023-24 corn surpassed new crop sales at 354,000t, but were down from the week prior at 363,200t. Old crop export sales last week more than doubled from the same week last year at 152,900t.
Soybean sales continued to focus on domestic markets, with 99,800t of new crop sold and 338,400t of 2023-24 crop sold to industry purchases. Exports of new and old crop soybeans totaled 27,300t, down from 83,200t in the prior week.
Argentina wheat sales slowed during the week, with exports totaling 36,000t of new crop, down from 182,100t in the week prior. Domestic new crop sales amounted to 37,700t, up by 27,500t from the previous week.
