Houston, 18 June (Argus) — Renewable chemicals and advanced biofuels producer Gevo has resumed isobutanol production at its facility in Luverne, Minnesota, following complications with microbial contamination.
The facility is now running a single train at the site.
The company will sell isobutanol as specialty oxygenated fuel blendstock and as a component to make jet fuel and chemical products, including paraxylene which is used in the production of bottles and fibers.
Gevo plans to produce the fuel for the rest of this year, moving from a single production train to full output in 2014.
In March the company contracted to supply the US Army with up to 16,150 USG (385 bl) of renewable jet fuel. Gevo already supplies test runs of the fuel to the US Air Force and the US Navy.
