Shell reported a leaking flange on a crude isoprene unit at its Deer Park, Texas plant on 7 November.
Operators minimized emissions by returning material back to the process, according to the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The event resulted in emissions of toluene, styrene, benzene, hexenes, and other materials.
