Bermuda-based shipping company Golar has finalised an agreement with Singapore conglomerate Keppel to convert the 125,000m³ Gimi MossLNG carrier into a floating liquefaction vessel, the second such deal in six months.
The start-up date was not disclosed, but Keppel said construction of the floating LNG (FLNG) unit is expected to begin no later than November 2015, with delivery expected 33 months after construction begins.
The $705mn contract was secured six months after Golar's first deal with Keppel to convert the 125,000m³ Hilli into a FLNG terminal. The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2017.
Golar did not respond to questions earlier this year about the liquefaction capacity or the anticipated start-up date of either facility. But the company said in August that it was examining potential projects in west Africa and the Americas.
