Chevron Phillips' Port Arthur, Texas plant is restarting an ethylene unit following an upset earlier this week, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The restart of unit No. 1544 will result in flaring of benzene, carbon dioxide, and other materials between 31 December and 5 January, according to the filing. An earlier filing reported an inlet feed controller failed, requiring the shutdown of the distillation end of the unit.
