Russia's crude and condensate production edged higher in April — the only month in which output restrictions have not been in place since the Opec+ alliance began co-ordinated cuts in January 2017.

Russian output rose to 11.3mn b/d last month (46.45mn t), up by 0.5pc compared with March and 1pc higher than in April last year, according to preliminary data from the energy ministry.

It marks Russia's highest monthly output since January 2019. Production averaged 11.27mn b/d in January-April this year, up by 0.8pc compared with the same period last year.

Russia has committed to a crude-only quota of 8.49mn b/d in May-June and 8.99mn b/d in July-December under the new Opec+ pact agreed last month.
